Join Stew Crew at the Mueller Prairie where volunteers will be cutting and removing seed heads from the invasive Wild Parsnip. Wild Parsnip produces a prolific amount of seeds each year, rapidly taking over ecosystems.
What to bring: work gloves, long sleeve shirts and long pants, good word boots. CLCF will supply rubber gloves and bags to collect the seeds in.
Caution Statement: Wild Parsnip contains a sap that can create severe rashes and burns if the sap makes contact with skin and sunlight. This is called phytophotodermatitis and is very painful. CLCF takes extreme caution when working with Wild Parsnip and wants volunteers to know that we understand the concerns that come along with this. CLCF staff will help educate each volunteer on the plant species and signs of a reaction. Please reach out to Mackenzie,, Stewardship Manager, for an questions, mfranz@theclcf.org.
